Authorizing Inbox Sync

Modified on Wed, 13 Mar 2024 at 12:50 AM

Inbox Sync automatically adds travel plans from your email inbox to your TripIt itinerary

You'll never have to remember to forward a travel confirmation email to plans@tripit.com. Inbox Sync is currently only offered for Gmail, Google Workspace, Yahoo! Mail, and Outlook.com.

How to get started:

From the TripIt app:

  1. Tap the Account tab (bottom right).
  2. Tap your name (top of page).
  3. Select the email address(es) you wish to authorize Inbox Sync.
  4. Enable the Inbox Sync toggle.

Website

We've redesigned our web experience. You may still have the option to access your account from our legacy site so we've included instructions for both.

From our new web experience:

  1. Click your Profile icon (top right).
  2. Click 'Account and Security' > 'Manage Account'.
  3. Select the email address(es) you wish to authorize Inbox Sync.
  4. Click Activate Inbox Sync.

From our legacy site:

  1. Click Set up Inbox Sync and never forget to forward a plan on the Home page.

Notes

  • Inbox Sync will not give TripIt access to your email account password.
  • Inbox Sync is an optional feature you elect to authorize and is not required to use TripIt.
  • Once authorized, import is not immediate. You can expect your travel bookings to be imported within 24 hours
  • Currrently, Hotmail.com authorization can only be made from our website.
  • At sign up, TripIt will look for travel-related emails you received in the last 7 days, regardless of travel date (future or past).
  • Please make sure your travel confirmation emails are in your main inbox and not a folder or label.
