Inbox Sync automatically adds travel plans from your email inbox to your TripIt itinerary

Inbox Sync is now available for Microsoft 365 email addresses. Gmail, Google Workspace, Hotmail, Outlook, and Yahoo are also still supported.

How to get started:

From the TripIt app:

  1. Tap the 'Account' tab (bottom right).
  2. Tap your name (top of page).
  3. Select the email address(es) you wish to activate Inbox Sync.
  4. Enable the 'Inbox Sync' toggle.

Website

We've redesigned our web experience. You may still have the option to access your account from our legacy site so we've included instructions for both.

From our new web experience:

  1. Click your 'Profile' icon (top right).
  2. Click 'Account and Security' > 'Manage Account'.
  3. Click on the email address(es) you wish to activate Inbox Sync.
  4. Click 'Activate Inbox Sync'.

From our legacy site:

  1. Click Set up Inbox Sync and never forget to forward a plan on the Home page.

Unable to set up Inbox Sync with Microsoft 365 email

Your company can block connections to applications like TripIt. If your company has blocked TripIt, you will see a message like this when trying to enable Inbox Sync:

This means you will not be able to turn on Inbox Sync on your Microsoft 365 email address. Your company controls whether you see this message. You can select a different email address to add to your TripIt account or, as an alternative to Inbox Sync, you can always forward your travel confirmation emails to plans@tripit.com.

Notes

  • Inbox Sync will not give TripIt access to your email account password.
  • Inbox Sync is an optional feature you elect to authorize and is not required to use TripIt.
  • Once authorized, import is not immediate. You can expect your travel bookings to be imported within 24 hours
  • Currrently, Hotmail.com authorization can only be made from our website.
  • At sign up, TripIt will look for travel-related emails you received in the last 7 days, regardless of travel date (future or past).
  • Please make sure your travel confirmation emails are in your main inbox and not a folder or label.
