Calendar feed setup and sync

Modified on Fri, 12 Jan 2024 at 12:41 AM

The TripIt calendar feed dynamically displays your TripIt itineraries in your desired calendar application.

If you're not seeing your TripIt calendar feed URL, it may be currently disabled in your TripIt settings.

How to enable your calendar feed URL:

  1. Sign into your account on the TripIt website. (Make sure you're on our new web experience)
  2. Click the 'Profile' icon (top right of any page) > Settings.
  3. Select 'Calendar Feed'.
  4. Adjust the 'Calendar feed is currently disabled' toggle.

Setting your feed on iOS and Android

  1. Open the TripIt app.
  2. Tap 'Account' > 'Settings' > 'Calendar Sync'.
  3. Tap 'Add TripIt to your calendar'.

Setting your feed on the TripIt website

We've redesigned our web experience. You may still have the option to access your account from our legacy site so we've included instructions for both.

From our new web experience:

  1. Click the Profile icon (top right).
  2. Select 'Settings'.
  3. Click 'Calendar Feed' (left navigation bar).
  4. From here you can copy and reset your calendar feed URL.

From our legacy site:

  1.  On the Home tab, click Get iCal feed and copy the iCal feed URL.

Apple's Calendar application:

  1. Choose File > New Calendar Subscription.

  2. Paste your TripIt calendar feed URL, then click Subscribe.

  3. Select the 'Location' pop-up menu then choose 'On My Mac'.
  4. Select the 'Auto-refresh' pop-up menu and choose how often to update the calendar.
  5. Select 'Ok'.

Google Calendar:

  1. Open your calendar in a web browser.
  2. On the right of Other Calendars, click Add + > From URL.
  3. Paste your TripIt calendar feed URL into the field provided. Do not select the checkbox unless you want to make your calendar public.
  4. Click Add Calendar.

Microsoft Outlook 2010:

  1. Select Open Calendar, then From Internet...
  2. Paste your calendar feed URL into the field provided.
  3. Click OK.

Please note:

  • The refresh rate of the feed varies dependent on your calendar type (15 minutes to 24 hours).
  • The feed is read only (not editable).
  • Lotus Notes and Outlook 2013 (and later) are not supported by the TripIt calendar feed.

Resetting Your Feed

If your calendar still doesn't sync properly, you may need to refresh your feed. Please keep in mind that that some calendar applications will refresh on their own (Google Calendar, for example, can take up to a day before you see changes), so you may want to wait. But if the problem doesn't clear up, try these steps:

  1. On your mobile app, delete and then resubscribe to your calendar using the instructions above.
  2. From our new web experience, click the 'Reset Calendar Feed URL' on the Calendar Feed page.
  3. From our legacy site, go to the Publishing Your TripIt data page and click the Refresh button  in the upper-right corner of the page (in the Calendar Feed section).
  4. Copy the new feed URL.
  5. Add that URL to your email application using the instructions above.
  6. Wait about 15 minutes for your data to sync.
