Unfiled Items

Travel plans that aren't associated with a trip are placed in the 'Unfiled Items' section of your account.


Unfiled Items are accessible in the TripIt website and TripIt app. You can move an unfiled item to an existing or new trip at any time.  


Examples of Unfiled Items:

  • Your confirmation email or other information sent to plans@tripit.com is not processed.
  • You have unchecked the 'Put new plans into trips' box. If unchecked, your new travel plans will go into your Unfiled items folder on the Trips page.
  • You've moved a plan from a trip to Unfiled Items.


How to remove an unfiled Item into a trip


In the TripIt website.

  1. Click 'Unfiled Items' from the Trips page.
  2. For your chosen item, click the three dots (right of plan) and select 'Move'.
  3. Select to move this plan to an existing or new trip.
  4. Select the plan type (flight, lodging, etc.).
  5. Enter the plan details (contents from original email can be located at bottom of page).
  6. Click 'Save'.


In the TripIt app:

  1. Tap 'Unfiled Items'.
  2. Select the plan you want to move into a trip.
  3. Tap 'Create Plan'.
  4. Select the plan type and enter the plan details.
  5. Tap 'Save'.
  6. Select to move this plan to an existing or new trip.


How to delete an unfiled Item:


TripIt website: 

  1. Click 'Unfiled Items' from the Trips page.
  2. From here, you can choose to delete all of your unfiled items at one time.
  3. Or to delete a specific unfiled item, click the three dots (right of plan) and select 'Delete'.

Android: Hold down on the specific unfiled item to navigate to the delete option.

iOS: Swipe to the left of the specific unfiled item to navigate to the delete option.
